She thought her biggest problem was starting junior high. She was wrong.

Twelve-year-old Chrissy Cartwright is on her way to school, excited and nervous about her first day of junior high, when a police officer stops her. A child is missing, he tells her, and he needs her help identifying the girl in a photograph.

Then everything goes black.

Days later, she wakes up in a strange cabin hundreds of miles from home. Her family has been told she’s dead. The police have found a body, and every piece of evidence points to Chrissy. And the people who took her have no intention of letting her go.

Because she isn’t a hostage.

She’s a game piece.

Welcome to The Killing Game, a secret competition played by seventeen wealthy and powerful people who have paid a million dollars for the privilege of playing. Each player is assigned a human being-a disposable -who must remain with them throughout the game.

The rules are simple:

Kill as many people as you can.

Don’t lose your disposable.

Never get caught.

Because if a player loses their disposable, they’re disqualified. And in this game, disqualification means death. Only one person-the referee, who also happens to be the richest person in the country-knows the identities and locations of every player and every disposable.

Now Chrissy must travel from town to town, hotel to hotel, surrounded by people she doesn’t know, never knowing who she can trust-or who might be watching her.

She’s supposed to be dead.She’s someone else’s disposable. And the game has already begun.
